Our Mission

South Central Insurance, Inc. is an agency that is community-based and has been operated by our current owner since 1971. We offer friendly and reliable service for the companies we represent: Auto-Owners, Indiana Farmers Mutual, Alfa Insurance, and Foremost Insurance Companies. We have a working and long-standing relationship with each of these companies. South Central Insurance, Inc. is a general property & casualty insurance agency. We would be pleased to meet with you to review your insurance needs, and to design a policy or policies to meet them. Our lines of business include: 

Auto, Home, Umbrella, Farm, Business, Recreational Vehicles, Motorcycle, and Flood.

South Central Insurance, Inc. is owned and operated by Richard L. Burrell who is assisted by fellow agent Penny S. Hinderlider. We are an independent insurance agency that has been serving the property and casualty needs of our clients in Jackson County Indiana and surrounding areas since 1910. The agency was founded as Foster Insurance Agency and became Foster-Story Insurance in 1946. We became South Central Insurance, Inc. in 1983.

Penny has been with South Central Insurance since 2001. She has been a P&C agent since 1997. Penny is a long-time resident of the Brownstown Community. She specializes in personal insurance needs and customer service.

Richard L.

Burrell

 

Richard came to the agency as an employee in 1971 and became a partner in 1972. He is a graduate of Brownstown Central High School. Community activities have involved being an active member of Brownstown First Baptist Church and is a retired member of Brownstown Fire & Rescue Fire Department. He also is a member of the Town of Brownstown Park Board and treasurer of a local softball league. Richard would appreciate the opportunity to assist you in securing any personal or commercial insurance needs you may have.
